Indigenous Cultural Awareness Training

The Circle of Turtle Lodge has been reviving, promoting, and restoring Traditional Anishinabe Culture in the Ottawa Valley since 1999. They are an independent not-for-profit organization, and a registered charity, based in Deacon, Ontario, which is at the head of Golden Lake in unceded Algonquin Territory.
Aimee will provide us with a brief history of the Indigenous People of Canada, the History of the Algonquins of Pikwakanagan First Nation, a comparison of Indigenous & Western Values, and the chance to develop your Land Acknowledgement Statement during this 2 hours workshop.
Aimee Bailey is an Algonquins of Pikwakanagan citizen and has an Honours Bachelor of Arts in the Humanities and Psychology from York University, plus post-graduate study as a Traditional Practitioner or Cultural Counsellor. She’s been a Spokesperson for the Circle of Turtle Lodge since it began in 1998, and she is currently the Elder-in-Residence for the College for their Mamiwi Maadaadizi.
